Grows From High Risk Venture
To High Style Eyewear Adventure
You might say that clear vision has always been a goal of Jack Goldberg's professional life. In the 70's he was co-founder of FOR EYES, an enormously successful national chain pioneering the discount eyeglass store concept.
Then in the early 1980's Jack and his wife Jane took a long look at the marketplace and decided that high-end designer eyewear was the obvious if somewhat counter-intuitive move. This time the concept would not be the bold scale of a national chain, but rather a personal, eclectic, hands-on boutique in the heart Manayunk soon to become the hottest new shopping and entertainment district in Philadelphia.
By carrying designer products -- Oliver Peoples, Paul Smith, Anne et Valentin, Theo, Robert Marc, L.A. Eyeworks, Lunor, Face a Face, Matsuda, Oakley RX, Alain Mikli, Philippe Starck, Beausoliel, Freudenhaus, Dolce & Gabana, Kazua Kawasaki, Air Titanium, Chrome Hearts, Maui Jim's, Kieselstein-Cord -- the EYEGLASS WORKS has built a discerning clientele.
Eyeglasses have become fashion accessories. People who either professionally or personally want to present themselves exceptionally well, know the importance of well designed eyeglasses.
This explains the long list of TV and media personalities, business and political heavyweights, and the generally well turned out audience that have come to rely on Jack and Jane and the EYEGLASS WORKS staff.
Now that Manyunk has been established a bustling upscale shopping and entertainment destination, the EYEGLASS WORKS has kept pace emerging as the Delaware Valley's leading fashion eyewear retailer.
